Writing Hope into Our World
A social justice themed letter/postcard writing campaign, inspired by Martin Luther King’s letter from Birmingham Jail. Our hope is to thank, encourage, and send a note of support to those working for social justice here and across the US.
In his letter, MLK shined a light on the importance of standing with social justice everywhere because, “Moreover, I am cognizant of the interrelatedness of all communities and states. I cannot sit idly by in Atlanta and not be concerned about what happens in Birmingham. Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. “

Triangle Speakers Training
As an LGBTQ person, you know the power of coming out. It’s a unique process no other community experiences; unique to the LGBTQ world. There’s a reason early activist Harvey Milk declared: “Burst down those closet doors once and for all!” and the success of our program is proof of this.
We hope you will consider joining us as we speak to people in local schools, places of worship, civic organizations and businesses to share our powerful stories.
The Process
We provide formal training where you’ll meet veteran and novice speakers and learn more about the Triangle Speakers program as well as basic skills in public speaking, current LGBTQ issues and how to appropriately respond to questions from audience members. Once you’ve been trained, you’ll get emails with dates, times and places of upcoming panels. Just pick one that fits your schedule and conveniently register online. Before the panel a moderator will call you up and set up a time and place to meet beforehand. All you do is bring your story.

Rainbow Veterans
We are LGBTQ veterans serving other LGBTQ veterans.
We strive to:
- Provide LGTBQ Veterans knowledge of and access to medical, financial and educational Veteran's Benefits.
- Provide family, partners, and friends of LGBTQ active duty and veterans support and information about resources that may be helpful to them.
- Build a stronger Santa Cruz Veteran's Community by forging links to other veteran's groups such as the United Veterans Council, the Disabled American Veterans, The Veterans of Foreign Wars, The American Legion, the Veteran's Motorcycle Club, and Not This Time Vets.
