Older Adult Programs

Our Senior & Older Adult Programs offer LGBTQ+ folx opportunities to enhance their quality of life through social and recreational activities. Our menu consists of senior luncheons, men’s socials, women’s socials, and weekly Wisdom Workshops! We offer these gatherings for people to connect with others and learn about community resources.

Wisdom Workshops

Our Wisdom Workshops are weekly sessions created specifically for LGBTQ+ older adults, offering a supportive space to explore topics that nurture physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Each week features a new focus, with workshops that include Trauma-Informed Chair Yoga, Music Bingo, Elder Abuse Awareness, Understanding SOGIE (Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Gender Expression), LGBTQ+ Movie Screenings, and Ecological Awareness.

Walk it OUT Wednesday! Walking Group for LGBTQ+ older adults and allies @ the Watsonville Senior Center

Participants must RSVP to receive a free lunch. When you RSVP you’ll be able share your lunch preferences.

The Diversity Center invites LGBTQ+ older adults and allies to Walk it OUT Wednesdays, a Walking Group at the Watsonville Senior Center. The Diversity Center will provide free lunch from Erik's DeliCafé to participants who create an account with the City of Watsonville and RSVP. Lunch includes items such as a sandwich, chips and seltzer water.

Participants are asked to complete The Diversity Center Community Connection Survey and sign a waiver. We start our walk at approximately 1:00 pm. We will walk around the neighborhood of the senior center and return to the senior center at approximately 2:00 pm. Our intention is to support community building with LGBTQ+ seniors and allies in Watsonville. We look forward to sharing well-being resources and engaging in physical exercise. Walkers are welcome to bring a water bottle, hat and any other items needed to walk comfortably. This walking group meets rain or shine and we will pivot to indoor activities if needed.

Women’s Social and BBQ Potluck

Join your community of older LGBTQ+ women for laughs, food, and connection. Leah and Pam are hosting this social. They will provide a BBQ. Please bring snacks, sides, drinks, dessert, and especially yourself! Older Adult + Senior Committee

Help improve older adult programs at The Diversity Center! We meet for 1.5 hours once every other month to plan events like luncheons and socials, review programming, and improve programs. Email 60plus@diversitycenter.org to learn more.

Rainbow Strollers

Join us for an accessible walking group! The group provides a fun, rewarding, non-judgmental experience for walkers, focusing on appropriate exercise, interaction, companionship, and enjoyment of nature. The walks will be no longer than 2 miles, with breaks. Text or call Rich at 831-322-9827 to get added to the Whats App and see where the group is meeting.

Rainbow Ramblers Advanced Walking Group

Date: First and Third Thursday of Each Month
Time: 1:00 - 4:00 pm

Ages: Older Adults

This advanced walking group is geared toward more active folks who are looking for a chance to add some healthy activity to their routine. Though we are not speed walkers, we aim for light aerobic exercise, walking a maximum of 5 miles, with opportunities for breaks as needed.
