  • Veterans Memorial Hall 46 Front Street Santa Cruz, CA, 95060 United States (map)

Contra dancing is an American folk form that evolved out of English country dancing and French quadrilles and is a close cousin to American square dancing. This is a community social dance that requires no prior experience. Bring a friend or come alone. Folks change partners with each new dance. This Community dance will be called/taught using gender neutral dance role terms Larks/Ravens, not the traditional terms Ladies/Gents. There is always live music and a Caller teaching and prompting each dance.

6:30pm lesson, 7:00pm dancing
