As Marriage Equality USA prepares to sunset, I want to invite you to participate in our exciting archive and book project! You can submit one or more stories of your involvement within the movement for marriage equality to be included in the materials we will donate to the ONE Archive - the largest LGBTQ archive in the world. These archives (and your stories) will be available to the public and scholars forever.

To be considered, please email one or more personal stories about your experience in the marriage equality movement to archive@marriageequality.org no later than July 21, 2016. The story can be either within the text of the email or attached as a Microsoft Word or Google Doc.

In addition to the general archives, you can also ask your story be considered for inclusion in MEUSA’s book to be released later this year. The book will focus specifically on volunteer stories related to working as part of or with MEUSA / MECA / MENY. In order for your story to be considered for the book, it must meet the following general guidelines (see story examples here and here):

  • 500 - 2,500 words with 1-2 pictures (if possible)

  • Focused on a single event or memory regarding your work as part of or with MEUSA / MECA / MENY in the fight for marriage (some additional information for context is fine)

  • We are looking for a story - not a resume or list of accomplishments or experiences

  • Write "BOOK:" in the subject line of your submission email - otherwise, it will only be considered for the general MEUSA archive
