Lending Library

Ever wonder what's in the library at the Diversity Center? More than 3,200 titles are catalogued at https://www.librarything.com/catalog/SC_Diversity_Center.

Click here to purchase books from our wishlist at Bookshop Santa Cruz Here at the Diversity Center of Santa Cruz County, we have a mission to provide the best resources possible for our LGBTQ+ community, and chief among them is access to current and reliable information. We would be grateful to receive donations to our lending library! We've identified some of the types of books that are needed, primarily those useful to our trans*, intersex, non-binary, or gender non-conforming folks, as well as their support and family members. These gaps include: parenting books on raising transgender or intersex children; children’s educational books about gender; children’s fiction with trans and intersex narratives; highly influential transgender authors like Janet Mock, Suzan Stryker and Julia Serano; and any resources on intersex characteristics, experiences and discrimination. We need your support to get started! Please visit our public wishlist at Bookshop Santa Cruz to see which books we're looking for, either new or used. Or contact librarian@diversitycenter.org for more information about how you can help (we're open to donations of any and all LGBTQ+ materials, not just these particular titles). Our library is a beautiful collection of memoirs, historical texts, legal or sociopolitical studies, parenting resources, queer-related fiction, and more, which are frequently lent out to the community. Our full catalog is available online, and you don't even need a library card to borrow anything! We rely entirely on book donations and financial donations to fill our shelves.
